Saying goodbye

We’ve spent a large portion of our last couple of weeks in the UK saying goodbye to family and friends. Some of them multiple times πŸ™‚

Many hugs have been shared, tears shed, gifts given and words of advice and concern imparted. We feel very loved as we head off on our travels.

I was advised by another travelling mum @travelynnfamily on many things travel and a bit of recent advice was to take lots of photos during these goodbye meetings and parties so that we reminded ourselves of reasons to come home! I can imagine that we may well find it harder to leave Asia than to leave home and that’s saying something because I LOVE my home and we have an incredibly close family.

It still hasn’t sunk in quite what we’ve undertaken. Maybe I’m ignorant and naive or perhaps I’m just indulgent. Maybe, (as people keep telling me) I’m brave. That makes me nervous, what do they know that I don’t? What terrors lie ahead for me and my boys!? I feel a little bit indulgent, I also feel like I’m throwing caution to the wind and no matter what, we’re ready to just let the whole experience wash over us, grow from it and have it lead us where it may.

4am 19.01.20 waiting for the taxi to take us to the airport. (I did change out of my unicorn slippers FYI πŸ™‚

How long until we see a familiar face again? No family or friends are due to join us along the way although the offer is always open if they want to. We will meet other travellers along the way and our paths may cross again as we move around Asia. Perhaps, perhaps not.

When we return it’s all change too. The boys will be starting at a new school so some goodbyes we’ve been saying do feel quite final πŸ˜₯

Pretty much all of our social circle revolves around the school and local community. This isn’t something that I see changing when we get home as we’ve got some great friends but it will definitely take some readjustment as we’ve been gone for so long and still won’t be seeing everyone every day when we’re back.

That’s the wonder of social media and modern technology I guess, being able to keep in touch with everyone even from afar. In the blink of an eye we’ll be home so we plan to make the most of being away.

We’ll be sure to keep the blog updated with our escapades. 😁

On our way!
